This year we trialed a companion crop with our oilseed rape - we drilled Crimson Clover and Buckwheat with the OSR to help establish the rape by protecting it from pests and release nitrogen back into the soil! OSR is a notorious lazy rooter so a companion crop acts as a pathfinder for the roots of the OSR plant, increasing root biomass...so far so good! What a difference from last week - our beans planted with our Mzuri strip-till drill. We plan to use these homegrown beans in our animal feed to offer our customers local sustainable feed solutions.
